Hey everyone. Am looking at getting some mags for the beast. The ones I am looking at are 18x8.5 with (I think) 235/45 18. Has anyone else got these size rims and tyres (not sure of the tyre size) on there car and have they had any trouble with clearance and scraping.
Cheers

I'd be checking with your insurance and road authority to see if it's legal and insurable before looking into the actual wheels.

Definitely check with your insurance co first. I know for a fact that if your with RACV, the won't insure you if you go over 17x7 on a 99 Magna Sports. However, if your with Just Cars, like me now, they'll insure your Verada with tractor tyres, if thats what you're into. I know I would want to have to spend $2k on rims, stack, and start off with stockies again.

Check with your insurer First and then the Rims,

also Eventhough Just car will let you do any mods but they will also charge top $$$$ for it i.e alomst the dobule of the RACV. So add that excess insurance cost to you rims / any future mods as well.

Also 18" X 8.5" might be just too wide. if your car is under warranty might be a good idea to check with Local mitsu dealer that if it will affect the warranty.

Leaglly for Roadworthy you can only go 2 sizes up in rim diameter (max) i.e (if you door playcard says 16" you can go to 18" max), and 1 size up in rim width (max) (i.e. if you door playcard says 7" you can go to 8" max).

Yeah i've got 18" * 8. And these little buggers only scrape the inside splash guard on full lock. Now take into mind that i've had the toe caster and camber all set up. But you shouldn't have troubles with wheels this big, unless you decide to drop it on it's a#!e.

I run 18" x 8" with 235 rubber on my TL.. I would say there wouldnt be any great clearance difference between our cars..

No fouling what-so-ever lock to lock. Thats with Kings superlows fitted all round.

Yep same as the sly fox i too run King springs superlows front lows rear and my rubber was 235's now 225, but i haven't had any dramas with the wheels. Because they are TSW VX1's they stick out in the centre of the rim so the cops do have close looks at them but they are legal (just).

Yep! Do so!
If u r in NSW, send me PM with your e-mail and I'll mail u RTA regs for wheels/tyres.
No need to guess after reading that.
BTW - Insurance Comp's do not advice u what to do with your car - they insure u no matter what. Only when it comes to a claim, they check if the car is legal or not. If not, they will not cover.... and it's your tuff luck. Don't risk it!
