hey guys
got a bit of a problem with the old girl, the steering wheel is very hard to turn and makes a hell of a squeel when i try to... i have checked the PS fluid and it hasnt dropped...
im guessing the power steering pump is gone? but what gets me is the squeeling, its like a belt or something...
any suggestions?

Check your belt. It is the one further back into the engine when you look into the engine bay. Also check your power steering fluid.

had a look, seems the belt is pretty loose. i can see fresh rub where it joins the engine pulley. maybe when they did the timing belt they didnt tighten the pulley up enough?
im fairly mechanically minded however most of my skills are on older 4x4's where there is lots of room in the engine bay....
the car is under warranty however i would prefer to fix this myself if possible?
cheers for any advice

just had a look at the manual, seems straight forward, just not use to working with so little room!!!

Remove front right wheel (use jack and axle stand), remove splash shield. Plenty room!

You can adjust the belt from the top of the engine bay
It's just alittle fiddly but doable

You must have really tiny hands!
Seriously though. . . . I take the wheel and cover off anyway when I do an oil and filter change, also a good time to check/adjust belts. Never tried it from the top to be honest.
