g'day guys. My first post. Go easy. :)

I have been searching for countless months of all kinds of sites for my problem here.

I have a 99 th 3.5 ltr on gas. (lpg)
It is a romano vapour injection system.
on cold starts or cool mornings, or from very economical driving (like a granny)
The car will shake violently and lose all of its power.
It will rev out at 2000 rpm with my pedal to the floor.
Has anybody experienced this?
it has done it every day since i bought it in june.

Since then i have done the following, New fluids. (oil, auto trans, cooling, power-steering, brakes. ect All with good quality brands)
New Spark plugs and leads (spiral-core gas master lpg leads, Expensive!) Man was this a job with the gas set-up.
New distributor cap, new brake pads. i have done its major and minor services
I bought the car with 206k on the clock and now it has done 214.. I have checked all the vacuum hoses and map sensors and they are all fine
this problem is only on lpg though. the lpg set-up is temp controlled so it only changes to gas when the car warms up, ( Clearly not enough but its not a adjustable item)
And as soon as it switches to gas itl shake and rock and lose power, I could put the pedal to the floor and ill hardly even move. But if i go back to petrol for 5 mins then switch back over the car is fine for the rest of the day.

Just to mention again, This is an lpg problem only.

I have done all of the services i can think of to help the problem but it just doesnt go away. Is there anybody out there who can help me or knows of anything. I'm stuck at a cross-roads. I dont want to pay $200 for a lpg mechanic to quote something that i have personally already done or to find out nothing or find something and have him charge crazy prices. I am capable of most servicing myself..
Any help would be amazing!

Apart from that i love my magna! Fast, Economical. stable. I can get over 600k's to a tank and 500 to a tank of gas.

You need to spend the $$ and goto a gas specialist or switch off the gas

Gas needs specialist equipment to fix it

I can afford the petrol to run around it but not a service lol

I think i might have to..

Thanks for you quick reply mate,

Does the coolant flow through the gas setup to heat it? If so, do the hoses get hot? You may have a coolant flow problem, or the thermostat in the cooling system may be defective and the gas is icing up the system.

. . . . . I could be totally off track here . . . . . get a gas boffin to look at it. Don't just ask for a service, explain the problem in detail.

"the lpg set-up is temp controlled so it only changes to gas when the car warms up, ( Clearly not enough but its not a adjustable item)"

If you take it to a gas place they can adjust the LPG Computer's temperature setting for the petrol-gas change over point. The alternative is to start & run on petrol then manually change it over to gas once the engine is up to operating temp.

Cheers

I used to have that problem^ and had a slight coolant leak from the converter and the gas did freeze, but thats all fixed now.

ill give that a try..

It seems to be tempreture related because it only does it when the car is cold
