Aye,

So recently bought a set of 19's to replace my 20's. Slapped then straight on. Well today took them for first test drive. They scrub a bit. I wasn't really surprised by this as they are 245/35R19's. My 20's were running 225/30R20 and only scrubbed if I had a full load.

The big Issue Im having is there is alot of vibration coming through the steering wheel while just cruising and when letting of the accelerator there is a rattling sound coming from the rear.

Im going to pull them off tomorrow and have a bit further look behind the wheels but at the moment looking to see if you guys have any ideas off top of your collective heads? Need to get this sorted as having the car RWC'ed soon so can get it registered in VIC.

They may be improperly balanced or even buckled; or the wheel may not be properly seated on the hub...
Or one of the tyres may have an egg in it/them

Dont think they are buckled. Bought them off a AMC member who switched cause he got 20's. Balancing maybe, Not properly seated also another likely thing. Just did the change myself. Hard thing to screw up but still.

Rattling may also be a loose weight, and being loose, the wheel will not be properly balanced.

Hub Centric Rings may be required if the centre bore is different.. They cause vibrations at higher speed.

Balancing is probably the other thing too.. An alignment and balance will put the steering/suspension geometry in to position.

The other thing you could look at, is front end bushes.. It may only be apparent after the wheel change, but your bushes may be flogged.

Start with the basics and get an alignment n balance done first, ask the tyre shop if you need to fit hub centric rings and take it from there.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Well pulled the rims off today and first thing I noticed was this fancy silver ring. I remembered that when I got the 20's the guy said something about spacers but honestly at the time all I could hear was "you have 20's" so pulled the ring off, didnt fit into the back of the 19's but sits perfectly on the 20's. Slapped the 19's back on, while jacked up spun the wheel and no whobble. Pulled the rear flares off aswell. Haven taken it out for a drive yet but should be sorted. Cheers everyone for the help.
