Hi guys

this relates to TS, and I did post in second gen forum but got no replies, so figured the ISC is going to be similar in third gen and try my luck here....:hmm::repost:

Sorry, ANOTHER ISC question...

Hi all, I know the ISC stepper motor is an issue thats been on here a lot, I know how to replace/clean but this is more a question if it is a likely cause of a problem.

My sisters TS 2.6 has an idle problem where the car runs OK when cold, but when warm the idle drops to stall speed. So my question is, why does the ISC raise the revs adequately when cold, but once the engine has warmed up it loses the plot and the car idle drops?

Logic suggests if the ISC is stuffed it wouldn't work at all. So could this be something else? We have tried cleaning the ISC but it hasnt fixed the problem. Next step is replace the ISC but not sure if it is actually thw problem.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers Ben

Because the ISC DOES NOT raise the idle when cold, that is done by the air bypass valve under the ISC< as coolant warms this up a wax pellet similar to that in a Thermostat closes the valve thus returns back to normal idle

The ISC really only does anything above cold thus when your sisters car drops idle when warm means the ISC is not working but when cold the Bypass Valve is working
