ive had the boss audio 800 watt amp and its not to bad it did its job powering my kicker comp 12" sub and alpine 6x9's u get what u pay for but as far as speakers and other stuff i wouldnt get any of it but depends on your budget but i would save a little more and get a better brand.

I have a Boss sub and it goes pretty damn hard. If i could re-do my stereo i'd go all out Boss, i reckon they are good value for the price (they're not the BEST, but far from the WORST). I'm currently building a new system with boss 6" 200 watt splits, gonna be awesome.

Boss gear comes fairly close to the bottom of the market as far as I know.

The boss Audio amps are pretty good, they handle the power quite well. Im getting a 1000 watt amp for me. as Im buying 2 12" MTX Subs (400 watts each) and kenwood 6x9s and 6" speakers for the front.
Well Mate good luck :fruitcake :poke:

They suit a niche market well which is ultra-cheap equipment. Their gear can sound quite loud, but in terms of sound quality it's mostly non existant. I found that Audioline are also on about the same level.

Seriously, Boss are really picking up in terms of their quality. Many negative comments you might hear about Boss is most likely based on their equipment from years back... but now, after listening to thier brand new line of subwoofers, I would be confident in saying that you won't be wasting your money in terms of a sub that is efficient and performs well.
I agree with Leighm85... they're not the BEST, but they're far from the WORST. It really comes down to your budget...
However, something that might be better than Boss, but just as cheap, is Audiopipe. Autosalon Brisbane had an Audiopipe set up and thier stuff performed really well...
I have heard literally hundreds of Boss catastrophes in my time...
With all due respect to the Boss owners here (and a few people seem to have made the mistake), Boss audio products (Australia, not US - different company) are total rubbish. I'm sorry but there is no polite way to say it guys.
I'm speaking as someone who not only owns and runs a high end audio store, but someone who often repairs and reviews audio components for various publications both online and in hardcopy and I must admit I have seldom seen equipment so poorly designed nor constructed with such poor materials. :(
Boss does fit into it's own particular section of the market, but contrary to some peoples opinions (mainly Boss owners we find), they ARE very close to the bottom. The peculiar thing is that for a small amount more, there are many other quality brands that are much better.*shrug*

Boss are not bad at all, they are bigger in the USA than Pioneer. For some reason we love Pioneer here in Australia. The only issue with Boss is that we only get a limited range here in Australia. I run Panasonic, Pioneer and Boss. Never had a problem with Boss gear at all. Boss are realistically priced not like Pioneer.

OK fast verada. I will forgive you but that is a mistake hundreds of us, yes US, have made. The American brand Boss is different to Boss that we see in Strathfield and Brissy Car Sounds. Basically Boss tried to use the name of the American Boss to boost its name and lawsuits have eventuated. I did the research and read the reviews on how Boss was really good not knowing that it was a different company. If you dont believe me look up Boss and i bet you will not be able to find any of the products that you find in Strathfield catalogues. I have had Boss amps namely the BA 4300 1200W 4 channel and the BA 2200 600W 2 channel and while they are both able to be used they certainly were not high performance audio gear. You will find that for an extra bit you can afford better stuff than Boss. Without being harsh to those with Boss out there I would advise to not do it to yourself. I will admitt that they performed well for the money but when I upgraded to better gear you could have forgiven me for crying at the money I had wasted on mediocre gear.
So I say DONT DO IT TO YOURSELF! If you are serious about sound then avoid cheap stuff with high ratings. Always a bad sign when a $200 amp says 1200W. If You dont want to travell the car audio road and simply cannot see the point in saving for a little bit more and heaps better quality then OK try Boss. I will say though that dont buy the speakers or subs. They are bad news and perform poorly.
I am sorry if I have offended people but I thought I would have my say. Basically If it sounds good to you then thats all that matters but as far as reliability you have to trust someone. Why not a fellow magna driver.

i would just like to voice my dissapointment in the latest Hot4's feature car, and this seemed the thread to do it..
basically it's a 03 WRX (of course)
lots of power... great... (although its prolly left overs from other projects)
standard gearbox... not so great...
retrimmed interior... great...
interior was sponsored... cheap ass...
20" wheels... great...
wheels are UGLY... well personal opinion anyway
"king springs"... seems ok
until you realise its Hot4s speak for "chopped"
no bodykit (just a couple of STi upgrades)
ENTRY LEVER pioneer stereo.... WTF!!??
only 1 amp... so speakers must be off the head unit
and the amp is a BOSS!!! aaaargghhhhh!!!
what does it take to be a hot4s feature car these days??

i think ur car is hot enough 2 be in there :D , when u get it back on the road, but over time ive seem some things that shouldnt be in there. i dont understand some of their choices, but hey, thats why im not the editor of Hot4s i guess.

Actually, asylum's car probably wouldn't make it in coz its a 6cyl  A very sexy car none the less, but o well. Maybe there's some behind the scenes stuff going on regarding what cars are allowed in ;) ;) ;)
Oh yes, btw, if u really want to go BOSS, nobody is stopping you. Personally, I think they are rather good looking, shiney paperweights and doorstoppers. There are thousands of better brands out there. Good Luck
