View Full Version : Pugs and money
Looking at a tune for the TS V6 and if it needs plugs what would you all recomend... Iridium . platiumum or just change the front bank and see? At $20+ per plug for iridium I could live with the cost of 6 but I don't know when they were last changed @Kms? The car has 149000 and generally runs well but I have a rough idle after the it is warm..EG.. traffic lights then it does a little pop splutter thing while its is stopped. If i select N while it is sitting it purrs.. but back in D it missbehaves again..@ 800rpm..I thought that it might be a plug issue ( also I have just put inject clean in tank , 10% improvement ) but it still does the same thing.. Throttle body? Any ideas.. thanks

TS V6 uses copper plugs, cheap as chips. The ones at the back can be reached without taking the intake manifold off, unlike the third gen. This engine is pretty kind on plugs, easily go 60,000 km without touching them, no need for platinums.
Helps if you disconnect and remove the ignition coil hanging off the back of the intake manifold, but not strictly necessary.
Rough idle for the 3L V6 is normal, spluttering isn't.
Thanks Madmax I'll let the the mech do the tune and have a look at the plugs as well because if they are as easy to get at as you said the cost will be less than i thought.. Thanks again.
