Picked up a towbar at the weekend (thanks Whippy!) and am intending to install soon.

Iits not too hard to hard wire the plug in but much easier if you have the harness that just plugs directly into the taillights.

Rang Hayman Reece but they told me they don't make them for 3rd gen Magnas...also dropped into a Mitsy dealer but same story there, the harness is now an obsolete spare part.

Apart from maybe getting one from a wrecker is there any other option for plugging straight in?

I put a towbar on my TJ 2 years ago, came off an earlier 3rd gen Magna, complete with bolts and wiring harness. Hayman Reece bar, but the wiring harness looked like a Mitsu product. Plugs in at the passenger side tail light.
Other than finding one at a wreckers, all you can do make one up yourself - splices and 7 core cable available from a towbar place.

Make one yourself mate. ;)

Go to your left pass taillight and look at the plugs/harness. Specifically the white square ones. Then head to the wreckers and cut off those plugs from a TJ wreck with plenty of extra loom.
Then head to an auto/4x4 store and buy a trailer harness and some cables/wires. The trailer harness/plug you buy should have specifications of what pin does what, you then crosscheck which pin on the taillight loom corresponds to the one on the trailer harness. You can do this using the Mitsubishi wiring diagram in the mitsy service manual that member "karj" has links too in his signature.

Do you have any trailer/towbar places near you? The towbar place I went to last year had them in stock.
