View Full Version : Central Locking Fuse Keeps Popping

Basically, the 15A fuse for my central locking in the kick panel fuse box keeps popping, but not instantly.

It seems like it has something to do with the front passenger-side door, when I opened it fully the door locked and the fuse went (It has gone when I haven't touched that door also, but the other doors seem fine)

I do have an aftermarket central locking system that has been in for a fair while, but I don't think its the culprit, it has its own inline 15A fuse and I swapped 10A fuse into it, and the factory 15A fuse still went first.

Can anyone tell me how the wiring in the door works? I am assuming that the lock motor gets a +ve and -ve voltage that swaps around for lock-unlock signal?

What is the wiring that goes to the door handle?

Thanks for any help

All I can suggest is to test the wiring that goes through the body and into the door.
Sounds to me like there is an intermittent short to ground there somewhere.
No idea what coloured wire you should be looking at off the top of my head but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out if the insulation on one of the wires is damaged.
