View Full Version : Fuse Or ECU?

Hey AMC members i was fiddling around with my car the other day the electric seat cable got knocked out so i decided to plug it back in started to work for about one second then stopped now the electric windows also plus radio wont turn on now! i was thinking it could be a fuse but someone esle was saying the ECU needs to be reset is this true?

Have you checked the state of the electric seat connector. May have something in it etc which may have created a short and blown a fuse. Check the engine bay fuses and the one in the cabin on the drivers' side kick panel.

Edit: The ECU does not control those things. They are controlled by the BEM which is under the dash next to the steering column. You may have blown an interior multi-purpose fuse.

As vlad says - the ECU has nothing to do with the seats/lights/radio/windows etc- it's for the mechanical side of the car. What controls the interior electrical function is the BEM and its very unlikely you've blown the BEM.

It sounds like the typical fuse that people blow when doing radio installs. Main culprit is inside a yellow casing in the engine bay fuse box. You need to carefully lift it up (look for tabs that hold it in place) using precision screw drivers or pliars and then check the two fuses inside. If they're fine then work your way around the engine bay fuse and then moving onto the cabin fuses. Guarantee it's a fuse.

thanks for the replys found it was the 40a window fuse think its just cuase the fuses were really old
