No start condition this afternoon.

Engine would turn over rapidly but not fire. On what seemed like the 10th attempt engine started normally but check engine light lit. Battery is only a few months old and 650cca so not an issue.

Drove normally but decided to take it in to the local dealer to check codes. They scanned it and two codes showed. Incorrect key/immobilizer and crank angle sensor.

Tech says he has had a couple of 380s recently with similar symptoms and codes and it has been faulty ignition switches.

Suggested I continue to drive it to see if the fault reappears so as to be certain it is not a one off. If it reoccurs they will replace the ignition switch.

Tech Advised if difficult to start push key into the ignition barrel while turning. This apparently overcomes the issue in the short term which will allow a start.

Car is operating normally at the moment so will see how we go.

Car still has 14 months warranty and roadside assist left and have been using the Dealer for servicing exclusively for 23 years so happy to take their advice.

Will advise further if problem persists and post their solution.

do you swap keys often

I found that swapping keys actually stops this happening

have read a few people with 380's having starting difficulty. Ignition switch sounds the likely culprit

Had exactly same problem and I;ve got the exact same model too, had the engine light on etc but it disappeared after 2-3starts, never worried about it, happens evrey 3-4months.
