Can someone please help me?
I have taken my car to mitsubishi four times for the same problem and they have NOT fixed it.
The problem is while i'm driving, usually at slow speeds i lose all power, have to put the car back into park and it starts straight away.
It usually only happens when i'm driving at slow speeds however if i am driving down the freeway it will lose power for a split second and than come back to life.
It is losing power daily and its starting to become very dangerous.....
PLEASE HELP

Intermittent faults that don't show up by scanning for error codes at the dealer are difficult to track down. If the low speed power loss involves the engine cutting out altogether, it sounds like an electrical fault.
I would check distributor cap and the plug at the distributor for dirt and corrosion, maybe try a different distributor from a wreckers as the ignition coil could be faulty. But I'm guessing.

Could it be a fuel delivery issue? Something like a stuffed fuel pump or dirty filter?
Have you ever replaced the fuel filter?

have checked / cleaned fuel filter and carried out a fuel injector clean. still no luck

Checked the actual operation of the fuel pump? Or the lines if they're dirty/clogged?
Maybe, as a test, just get a cheap second one from the wreckers (e.g. Jollys) and test if it makes a difference?

havent checked the operation of the fuel pump or lines. how much do you think a second hand one would cost?

Well going by the Jollys U pull it website - it's $40 for a in-tank fuel pump for Efi cars. $10 more if you want warranty.
However you just need one to test if your's is stuffed or not.
Why not find someone whose wrecking a magna and offer a 6pack of poison for you to borrow the pump for a little while? I know magnador is stripping a TJ and he's in Vic.

+1 for fuel issues. I have (stupidly, whatever) been very low on fuel (~5L left) and accelerated around a corner and the engine will drop out as the fuel pump can't draw any fuel for a split second. As I straighten up the engine comes back and I carry along my merry way.
You're not really low on fuel and your gauge is rooted? (showing full, and you actually only have 1L left...)

no will have a full tank, half tank, whatever and will still do it.
I would say it happens most when car is hot, and majority of the time when either turning a corner or coming to a stop.

thinking about just selling it

Try the fuel pump first and see how you go. While replacing the fuel pump check that the tank is mounted/bolted up properly and doesn't move.

DIY or mechanic?
DIY - on ebay you can get fuel pumps (some genuine DENSO's) for around $80-130. Probably cheaper through rockauto.com
Getting to the pump isn't hard. You just need to take out the back seat, undo the plate with a screwdriver and unhook the fuel lines and electronics to get access to the bolts to remove the pump. Done in an hour easy.
Mechanic - well he'll probably order from Mitsy (apparently $600 according to ebay) or Bursons/Repco etc (could be also be bit expensive) and probably charge 1-2 hour's labour at around $80-100/hour.

Does it just cut out suddenly while the engine is doing reasonable revs, or do the revs drop so low that the engine stalls? What is the hot idle RPM? Could just be the ISC.

yeah it is doing reasonable revs when it cuts out.
TPS switch has been checked, plugged into the computer, new distributor.
Taken it to 3 different mechanics 6 times. 4 times to a Mitsubishi mechanic.

Hi,
In the drivers side footwell there is a bunch of wires, behind the carpet. They come through the firewall and down to ECU. It is on left hand side above foot rest. I am tall and often rest my foot on carpet there. Guess what, wires rubbed against a metal edge and cut open and would intermittently short out. Can post photo later in day.

1) I note you said it cuts out when turning a corner. Some time back either Ford or Holden had a similar issue and it was one of the 'idle up' valves on the power steering that stalled the engine. I don't know if the Magna is the same but look for vacuum tubes that might have fallen off or vacuum valves that aren't working.
2) I don't think you mentioned the model. However, I also own a MX5 and the camshaft sensors only last about 100k. On a hot day or when moving slowly in traffic the engine cuts out but can be started again but might run erratically. If you let the car cool down it runs perfectly. I was told the emergency fix is to pour water on the sensor. Possibly you could have a similar issue
