Hey guys,
I have done a search on this topic but couldn't find what I was looking for so I have started a new thread. So my question is exactly what my thread title is. I have been stripping my TL wreck cause frankly its taking up too much room in our yard and we know for a fact we won't be dealing with magnas anymore so we need to get rid of it but at the same time I want to sell parts off it. Now I know the BEM is useless without the key ignition barrel which is why I need to get it out. However I've noticed it's sort of hard pinned in there and I have no idea what to do. Could some1 please help. Thanks

Put the key in the barrel....on the undersize ,yes, there is a pin...push it in with a nail or something and whilst grasping the key ,the barrel should slid out...not sure if the barrel is meant to be locked or unlocked ,try both

Thanks for that mate, got it out in 2 min! I figured out you gotta have it on ACC. Now I also have the door cylinder to sell with the ignition and BEM so what do you think I would get for the set? It's off a standard 4 sp Auto tiptronic 03 TL ES.

Pretty sure you have to include the ecu in there to complete the pack. One doesn't work without the other

I thought the ECU is the BEM. The thing I removed was a little black box under the ignition key barrel.

Thats the BEM, the ECU is under the dash above the floor pan tunnel. Take away the carpet and remove the metal panels on either side, I believe it sits under the heater core.

Nope, ECU is situated under the heater box, ECU controls the Engine and Trans, BEM Controls The Immobiliser, and various other things....

So I have removed the ECU and there was a little grey box underneath it with yellow looms plugged into it which I also removed so what does that box control? I also removed a small grey box that had 1 loom plugged into it which was situated in front of the gear stick but behind the ECU, what does that do?
So what do I have to sell as the set? The ECU, BEM, Ignition key cylinder and door key cylinder? And how much do you guys think I could get for it all?
Thanks

yellow plugged box is the srs airbag controller, the other is the cruise control.

Cool thanks mate, had a feeling the one with the yellow looms plugged in was the SRS controller.
So BEM, ECU, ignition and door key barrels is all I need for a set?

Take the glove box handle out with the lock in it and include that mate. No use having a useless lock.

Yeah good idea man. Thanks. I'm thinking judging by the prices I've seen on eBay, I should be able to get 100-150 for the set. Does that sound pretty reasonable?
