Nightshade, sandpaper and a can of clear.

Instant black repeaters.

No, I'd be sanding down the layers of nightshade before applying anouther coat. OP will need at least 3-4 coats for a nice coverage to make properly black. Then one final light sand before clearcoat.

what clear coat did you use? ive allways just done three layers no sanding and no clear coat (its flat black not glossy)

On my mates car, I just used standard clearcoat from a can of 'VHT' branded clearcoat that I got from autobarn.

I prefer the glossy look for a nice glass style finish. With just plain spraying nightshade, patchy work shows up really badly it's really hard to get matt finish right. I found a nice thick layer of clear worked a lot better and looked nicer overall. Not cheap and nasty but glassy and shiny. If you only did one layer of clear, then it'd not be very shiny so you still get more of a satin finish.

On my car, I'm planning to make the repeaters super glossy and black and fit with powerful bright globes, as well as wrapping the rear taillights in tint. Getting the curves around the top corners of the light is going to be tricky so I'm buying heaps of extra tint.

Well good luck and have fun with it. I'd recommend using a heatgun to help the tint soft and wrap nicely around the edges. Could still be tricky to avoid nasty folds/creases but it's cheap to replace! Search for a guy called "Show us your tints" on google. He can sell you quality tint per metre for a good price.
