Just looking for what brands people recommended and best place to buy new brake rotors and pads.
Just standard items for my TS that I am passing onto my mum (so not looking for anything slotted/drilled/performance)
Protex and ADB seem to be noticebly cheaper than the usual DBR and RDA. Has anyone had any experience with these cheaper brands?

I have always used dba and bendix for over 20 years on numerous cars I have owned. No problems whatsoever.

Same for me. DBA rotors are ok, same for Bendix pads. But consider getting the discs skimmed, much cheaper.

I've had both DBA rotors (on my old car) and now have RDA currently and I've found them to be no different. Both brake as necessary, even under harder braking, although the RDA set was the one I warped thanks to high pressure braking on a track.
Gone though a few set of pads as well including a set of cheap ferodos, Bendix CTs and im now on my second set of qfm hpx pads. Must say that im most happiest with the Qfm ones - they wear through quickly but they have no noise and dust and actually pull up well. They did eat my rotors relatively quickly and im not getting more than 25,000km out them but it has great stopping power.

I had Bendix General CT pads previously. I reckon they're great for a daily driver. They're around $60-70 a pair so it's not like they're that expensive.
Are the rotors salvegable? Could keep costs down by getting them machined.

If you are giving the car to your mum, go the Protex, I have used these for years on some of my own cars as well as many customers cars and never a complaint.

Looks like I will go the Protex rotors and pads, can get away with around $200 for 4 rotors and pads from an online store. I think you (Madmagna) actually put protex pads in the front when you did the twin pistion caliper conversion for me many years ago when you lived in adelaide.
Have pretty easily worked out the rotors, DR425 for the front and DR422 for the rear.
But the pads are confusing me. Seems protex catalog isn't very accurate with its magan/verada models, some of it seems just plain wrong to me.
I think i need the DB1223P which they state is for the "V6 Ei, Xi with ABS twin piston 92-00" since i have the twin piston upgrade on the front (my TS is originally a exec spec though so dosn't actually have ABS). But it worries me that they use the same DB1223P for other models like TE/TF/TH Akebono and Sumitomo Caliper. Afaik the only third gens that had twin piston was AWD and Ralliart (correct me if I am wrong though) so why would they use the same pad number for twin and single piston???
Also they don't even list a Magna V6 TR/TS just the 2.6 so I am not sure what i need for the rears. I am assuming I would just use the verada KR/KS V6 non abs which is listed as DB1204P??
Seems bendix use the same model numbers just without the P on the end. Looking at their catalog they indicate that the TR/TS 2.6 and KR/KS/TR/TS V6 non abs all use the same pad for the rear (the DB1204).
Can anyone help me confirm what pads i need? Getting confused and dont' want to get the wrong pads.

Oh and if Madmagna reads this do you sell the protex brand yourself?

Front is the DB1223
Rear is the DB1204
We still offer Protex to our customers, the Protex are the ones used on the daily drivers for your normal mum and dad cars if that makes sense, we use QFM on all others

Thanks Madmagna, saved me from having to waste time ripping out the pads just to compare them to the pics in the catalog.
