Hi,

Can someone tell me at what rpm and speed can you manually upshift the tiptronic auto gearbox?
For both 4 speed and 5 speed.

Thanks

At a standstill it will let you selct 2nd,moving at any speed below 45km/hr it will let you select any gear except 5th, as soon as your speed drops to below 45km/hr it will automatically downshift to 4th and as you come to a stop it will automatically shift to first. Thats what i have found with the 5 speed in my TL AWD.

And at what rpm could you upshift to 3rd, and 4th?

Anywhere from about 1000rpm

The 4 speed can start in 2nd, change to 3rd at 40, 4th at just under 60. It won't let you go back to first unless your speed is under 45. You can change back to 2nd at any legal speed limit, ie. less than about 130.

The auto mode shifts are largely based on TPS output and speed and some sort of torque converter slip measurement (possibly fluid pressure?), with RPM not appearing to be a significant input. I've not really looked into the tippy mode code enough to know what it is doing, but expect that the basic shift restrictions are also based on speed and TPS output rather than RPM.

RPM may be used as a safety limit, but I haven't found anything like that yet.

Unfortunately the scaling I have for the speed I know is out by about 15-20%, so its a bit hard to be precise about actual shift speeds without logging.

EDIT: BTW all the 4 speed auto mode shift maps appear the same. There are at least 4 different sets of auto mode shift maps for the 5 speed cars, and I expect that the Ralliarts have different tippy mode shift limits to the others.
