View Full Version : Vibration on acceleration on load (up hill, >80km/h) 2.4 engine

Hey guys,
just went on a short holiday trip during which i noticed that my 1998 - 2.4L magna starts vibrating quite a lot when i accelerate up hill when driving faster than 80 km/h. The intensity of the vibration changed from day to day, but at least when going over 90 km/h up hill it would always start.
I checked the engine mounts, they are perfectly fine. I also tried to have a look at the drive shaft, because I found a post about it here, but I couldn't really find any gaps, maybe because i wasn't looking in the right place?

Anyone had the same issue, and what do you think is causing it?

Cheers,
Jo

E: Also when going slowly I can hear a little bit of a squeaky sound sometimes, wheel bearings maybe?

Did you accidentally post the wrong link? That post is about a ticking noise, which I don't have.

Spark plugs and/or spark cables maybe?

I don't have many tools, might have a hard time checking them, any tricks?
Also I had a major service done less than 1000 km's ago. According to them they checked the spark plugs and all fine.

As said in my first post, checked them, perfectly fine.

It could be the spark plug leads.
Does it feel like you press throttle and the engine almost cuts out, ie, is unable to accelerate effectively?
And is it speed dependent or rpm dependent?

yep feels a bit like the engine almost cuts out, but not suddenly, more gradually having trouble to climb the hill until it shifts down.
and speed dependent >80 km/h

E: going to a friend's place with proper tools, will take them out and have a look. if i'm unsure i'll post a photo here.
