I've found a few threads on this from 2007 but i thought i would start a new one seeing as it's 2012 now.

I'm going to attempt to change the heater core by doing the "dash removal".

So far I have the new heater core without pipes, just the core (purchased for only $95 from here (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MITSUBISHI-MAGNA-TE-TF-TH-TJ-BRAND-NEW-HEATER-CORES-/260971677493?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc31fc735&_uhb=1#ht_500wt_923))
I'll be buying a torx screw set tomorrow

Is it mandatory to replace the seals on the heater pipe connections and install new o-ring seals to the evaporator pipes? Or can i make do with my old ones?

Is there anything else i might need besides the CORE itself? Do i need any other pipes or shiet?

I just want to make sure i have everything that is needed before started the whole dash removal.

PS: Tbh I would like to get this sorted out asap so i can drive the Magna again as i prefer it over the M5 and the Lambo because no one bothers me and it's an automatic and i don't need to worry about sh*t or where i park it so yeah, some help would be fantastic.

Ive just done this recently, firstly its not normally the core that leaks due to old age, its actually the seals (o-rings) so replacing those are a must, and then at the same time if I were you I would get new heater hose pipes, one of mine broke about 10,xxxk's prior to doing the core and it was a pain in the back side.

Also before you put the heater core into the housing ensure you get yourself some weather strip tape from your local hardware store and place it on the new core as I did this after reading about another member who put the core back in without the foam tape and it just keep rattling.

Heres my old heater core.

And next to it is my new one with the seals fitted inside, the new pipes and the weather strip tape.

Wow man. That's really helpful. Thank you.

Where do i buy the new o-rings and pipes etc from. I'm not really resourceful when it comes to Magna parts these days.
Any chance you have the part numbers?

I had mine replaced in August. There was nothing wrong with the core itself, the heater pipes snapped at the firewall. I replaced the pipes and seals, and the core as a precautionary measure.
I highly recommend replacing the seals and pipes while replacing the core. At the price the pipes are, its well worthwhile to do it all in one go rather than ripping it all out again when the pipes go brittle and break.

2 x Seal-Heater Pipe MR927776

2 x Pipe-Heater Inlet AW349218

Order them through a Mitsubishi dealer parts department.
