Can anyone confirm that a 97 TF 3.0l Magna has 2 1/2' mandrell bent exhaust? I keep hearing that it is but when I measured mine I thought it varied around 2 1/4'.

TE Onwards is a standard 2 1/2" Mandrel Bent..

one of the best in 'stock' items in the market! :shock:

i dont even think ford n holden have a 2 1/2" system as stock :| Maybe the SS and XR8

Well atleast you still have 2 1/2 im stuck with 2 1/4

I was told it was actually between 2 1/4 and 2 1/5 its like 62mm or something. It is definatly mandreal bent though and changing the rear muffler will give you a small increase as does taking the front resonator out, but its fuuuckin drony in the cabin with that out.

As we have worked out replacing the rear muffler with a good unit gains you in the range of 5kw to 15kw

ooooo n interesting topic. i recently took my car into Midas to check out my exhaust, (i have holes in the pipes) and i asked him how much it would be to replace it as the 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent system. and he replied "This is not a 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent system" and i was like "what!?!?!" i questioned him, and said that every magna comes stock with this system, but he took me under the car and indeed it does not seem to be 2 1/2 inch, but nearly a mear 2 inches. hhhmm so wats goin on? mitsubishi jibbin us?!?!?

(anyone got any pricees by the way? mufflers fine, just the pipes are all rusted and a few holes)

It seems as though the series II TJ magnas and the TF/TH/TJ sports/vrx(TJ only) had the 2.5" madnrel bent system stock.

And the rest has 2 1/4" or around about. Measured my old one and it was kinda in between 2 and 2 1/4".

Thats just the impression Im getting from what's being said so far.

I just had the muffler installed yesterday and the guy said it was inbetween 2 1/4 2 1/2 .... Mine is the TH Sports.
He said it was a funny metric size.

yeh it all seems to be piecing togther now. weve been wrong all along.....

anyone know wat kinda price id be lookin at for a 2.3" madrel bent system? just he piping? cos i like the muffler with the little twin pipe. and if a get a whole new exhaust i think they just get a muffler with the single. and i dont like the singles :cry:

U don't need a whole new system dude!!

U only need a new muffler - just choose a muffler that has a duel tip outlet - apparently Remus mufflers do!!

Check out Ebay.com.au ... a guy on there sells Mufflers all the time .. Hes in Sydney ... heas has Chrome duel 3" for $160 or so...

yeah im pretty sure its 2&1/4 inch hehe well mine is exactly 2 and 1/4 inches anyway hehe .... the guy who had my car before me replaced the whole stock exhaust with a genie 2&1/4 mandrel bent system with a "hot dog" resonator and a supercat muffler hehe ... i dont think u'd wanna go much over 2&1/4 anyway...... unless you love losing bvackpressure or something
