View Full Version : Magna / Verada AWD Manuals, were they ever made

Well we all know the answer to that, they should have been but never were......until today
We have just taken the first AWD Manual Magna for its first drive
Result.....
Well of course it does not go as hard as a FWD Manual BUT while all the FWD's are sitting there trying to find traction this one will be way ahead and I am sure that the driver will be grinning ear to ear.
Have been a lot of set backs, a lot of little issues along the way but is all finally done. Has been proven can be done and is done :)
I have taken it for its first drive, while I am not hammering the car as it was really the test run and clutch bed in run, I can really feel the difference between the Auto and the Manual. like chalk and cheese. I am at a bit of a disadvantage to be honest as driving the TT Galant I was expecting to feel 2 little snails kick in (well what I am used to anyway) but none the less I was quite impressed with the difference.
Nice work Mal.
It would be one unique car when this thing goes up for sale, that's for sure!
I would like to do it to my AWD one day but I would probably end up selling it and just getting a manual legnum/galant :P

Exciting times!
How is this looking as far as a mainstream modification? Will it be able to be done regularly? Or is this just a one off..
Well done Mal, its great to see this is finally working.
I can see this as being of great interest. Imagine EGOs monster turbo motor dropped into this! Wow!

There is no issues with getting this done as a regular thing thus why I wanted to the the first one to find out exactly what is needed etc. Hardest thing is $$ as you need to sacrifice a FWD manual box (preferably dead ones but for some reason they have all dissapeared :) ) either way, the $$ is also there for the mods to the box, is not simply cut a few bits off and go for it, the jig I have made is on revision number 4 to get it right, remember that there is NO room for any error.
So there is some sort of adapter plate that needs to be made up?
I have a FWD 3.0 box ready to gooooo :P lol

:D Good work Mal!! Exciting times!
My gearbox is holding on by it's teeth with no wave spring somehow, so this is excellent news!

No, need an AWD manual box, then need to make it bolt up to the 6G motor, that is the hard part and the part that has taken us a while because a/ we are bloody busy as it is and b/ wanted to make sure it was right

Awwww... that's a bummer then. Would probably end up with a galant then :P

I've been refraining from asking you about this for the past week as I didn't want to bother you. I have a fully worked 3.8 mivec engine (+ supercharger) to replace my current one, which I wasn’t going to do until I had a gearbox to go with it.
If you are ready to roll these out en mass and make a deal, PM or email me what you need so we can get the ball rolling.

Would you have a ballpark figure of the cost to do the mods to a tranny???

That's great Mal.
Good to see that there's finally a manual AWD Magna out there and all the hard work finally paid off.
Imagine a supercharged version...... mmmmmm..... Now who do we know that has a Supercharged AWD??? lol
AWD Sr was asking me about this such topic the other day (manual AWD). He'll be pleased when I tell him that it actually exists now.
Just hope it won't be more expensive than importing a Galant/Legnum would be, as they're quite cheap as in Japan at the moment (but manuals are rare)
I'd love to try a manual supercharged AWD Magna/Verada with a 6G75 3.8. I reckon that would be an awesome car. :) Ah well, I guess it's good to dream.

Congrats Mal !!!
An AWD Manual Magna has been one of those elusive mods for quite a while now. Good to see it was you that popped this cherry, well done.

Would it be a good option to do a 6A13TT + manual conversion?

Sorry not willing to post cost details into the forums as each case can differ depending on what parts used, anyone interested in these is most welcome to call during business hours
