Sooooo the problem I'm having is when I put the car into manual shift it carries on like its still in drive so I cannot manually change gears or hold gears. Also when D is selected it shows on the dash each individual gear as it cycles through the gearbox instead of the actual D that should be illuminated. It just randomly happened today out of the blue and I'm gonna see if restarting the computer will fix the problem but that won't be happening till the morning....any help is appreciated.

Couple of questions
Is this happening all the time or just now?
Was the trans fluid changed at regular intervals?
did this occur after a spirited drive?

It only just happened for the first time yesterday, I turned her off and came back two hours later and as I was taking off from the car park I noticed I couldn't use the tiptronic at all. I got my mechanic to change the fluid when he did the service (had a tranny cooler installed at the same time) and 20k befor that it had a full flush by mitsubishi. My driving was pretty standard that day as I was driving the family to a wedding.

I have had the exact same problem a couple of months ago. When it happened I restarted the car and the tiptronic went back to normal. Car had approx 88000km at the time, has not had transmission service yet, is due at next service. When it happened i was driving normal.

I had this issue a few months ago, at about 135 kms, hasn't happened since. Fluid was fine. Few guys mentioned that its probably to do with the electronic switches and clips being loose. As i haven't had any issues since, i haven't bothered pulling it apart to check.
Scared the sh#t out of me, though!
