Hi guys anyone know what is a good alternative keyless entry kit for the kf xi? Been looking for past couple of months for the original remote without paying $300 :( ow I'm thinking its probably better to look for a alternative. I remember someone had a kit he was selling anything else that can do the basics (lock/unlock doors ) while still working with the etacs alarm system?

I was lucky to find a couple of originals on ebay a couple of months ago.. I'm not sure which after-market systems work with the ETACS system, but I'm 99% sure you can't just get an aftermarket remote.

What happened to you're remote? Or did you not have one?

Any single remote locking unit will work with the etacs if wired correctly.

You do not need to replace the central locking system, but you will need to wire it a certain way to make it work properly. You can buy just the remote module with a couple of remote for very cheap. I have done this a couple of times with various cars.

PM me with the remote unit you are looking at and I will instruct you on how to install it.

They are all pretty much the same these days. Just grab the one with the remote you like the most.

Remember, you only need the remote entry module, not any actuators. So it will be a kit to add remote locking to existing central locking.

The one you need is the 3 button unit, with the red lock button. I have one for my KF Xi, but i hold it close to my heart because if I ever lose it, I will have a very hard time finding a replacement.

Ei use the std remote for a TF (non ETACS)

However, it is still quite dear.

A $20 remote kit will give you 2 remotes and keep the factory boot release etc. You even get a choice of to keep twin stage lock or unlock

Extinct to my knowledge. The only way you can get one is off a wreck.

Afraid it's not that easy for us KF Xi owners; the remote we need is this one...

This is the quote the previous owner of my KF got for a new remote some years ago. I couldn't believe it, so went to my local dealer to ask for a price... he frowned and said "that's the expensive one" and then gave me a price of about $280-$290 from memory. That was a couple of years ago and Dreggzy seems to have been told they are now obsolete. I was damn lucky to buy a couple brand new off a seller on eBay for $50 each :)

These remotes look the same as KS Verada remotes, but as I understand it, they have different part numbers and are not interchangeable.

It is worth mentioning as well that the KF Xi CANNOT be put into remote programming mode by using the turn key off-on method as described in the user manual. This is how you get the KF Xi into remote programming mode.

The ones I got from eBay a few months ago were advertised for 1991-1994 verada's. The codes on the back are

FCC ID: E4EG8DA
DOC/MDO: 1814 K1010
OMRON G8D-282M-A

Programmed fine with my KF Xi Verada.

Romen sounds like you have a few planning on selling one anytime soon ;)

What do you guys think about this one

Or this one I think it's just the remote and control unit
