So, my daughter and I managed to fix the indicator buzz that had plagued my car for a couple of years. We followed the wonderful advice from Mike481050 here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34392&page=1) and in the process managed to screw up the headlights. :oopssign:

I'm pretty sure we put the switch/stalk back together properly but may have lost a spring or something? And the indicators are working fine...no buzz anymore.

But now the highs are on and will not turn off, even after removing the key from the ignition. So we are disconnecting the battery until we find a solution. :sook:

Just wondering (hoping) someone else may have done a similar thing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm not much help here but all I can suggest is to take the blinker arm back out of the car, pull it apart as you did to clean it and check to make sure all parts are fitting back together right, something maybe out of place causing a short, put it back together and stick back in the car and hope for the best. I have done this to my Verada and workmates Magna but i don't think I had trouble with the lights staying on. All the best, cheers Deano

Make sure you plugged in the little plug to the underside of the assembly. It will have red yellow black green wires and is for the headlights. You may have just not plugged this in.

Hey All,

My daughter fixed it!!! She took it out, reassembled it again, put it back in. The highs could turn off but then the normal headlights wouldn't work at all! She figured out it was just a fuse!

Gotta say I'm damned proud of the kid. It's her first car (she only just got her learners) and she's learning how to maintain & repair the car herself. Talk about your self sufficient modern woman!

Thanx for all your suggestions guys!

Girl Power in action. lol
Most blokes would just trawl a wrecker and take one off a wreck.
(Still an option if this stalk stuffs up again.)

Heh heh it sure is! Gotta say I'm pretty impressed with her!

BUT, now the SRS light is on, and stays on. I know what she's done...disconnected the battery and forgotten to wait for the power to cycle out. She's lucky she didn't set of the air bags!
I 'think' it's most likely just an error code that we can erase with an OBDii...but yea...there is that :P
