Hi guys

Weird issue with kl Verada that started last night for no apparent reason.

Immobiliser/alarm went off, every 10-20 minutes, only way to sleep the night was to disconnect the battery. Connected it up this morning and 40 minutes later the horn starts sounding over and over again.

Tried with the doors unlocked, no difference.

Only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery!!

Any ideas as to what I can do, can I disconnect the factory alarm or whatever it is?

Any help really appreciated.

Cheers Pete

Could be the bonnet switch. Find it and bend the bracket up slightly by hand and see if it helps.

If no luck, have a look at your remote, if you have one. If one button is stuck down it will set the car off in panic mode. Maybe take the battery out of the remote or keep it far away from the car. Only has a range of 4 or 5 meters anyway.

Failing that, the central locking has a fuse in the driver's compartment that can be pulled out. One of the central locking door switches may be acting up.

Hey,
also if u haven't already just check if all your doors are locking/sensors are working properly,
my passenger side door actuator was broken n not locking without me even knowing,
till the alarm kept going off in like a 15min duration and then finally noticed it, replaced it and its fine now.
???
hope you resolve the issue soon

Door actuator is the most likely. I bought a TL from a car yard, then found central locking not working. Fuse for it was missing, when replaced the car would lock and unlock by itself and the alarm would go off randomly.
Turned out to be a bad switch in the driver's door actuator.

Yeah exact same "symptoms" as me before i changed mine,
at least it "red lights" the problem for you and makes you aware of it haha, my car forsure would have got broken into in my neighborhood, :/

Ok guys

All the doors physically lock when remote pressed. Does this eliminate the door actuator from the problem?

Also checked the fuse for the central locking, all good there.

Bonnet bracket thing looks ok, have I missed anything?

Didn't take the battery out of the remote, if I do that and it starts beeping, how will I shut it off then?

More help needed please fellas :)

NOPE: Try locking everything, then give the driver's door a thump with your fist just below the door handle. If this sets off the alarm, you know the door lock actuator has a bad switch.Repeat for other doors.

Also checked the fuse for the central locking, all good there.

You looked at it? What did you expect to see? Taking the fuse out disables the central locking and the alarm doesn't go off, if you are desperate to shut the car up .

Yes! You didn't test it! Try locking everything, then without opening the bonnet, pull up on the leading edge of the bonnet. If the alarm goes off, the switch needs adjusting.

Use key in door lock. But if your remote works correctly it's not likely to be the problem.

Like your idea of checking things by just looking at them! See more sensible help in bold above.

possibly the battery stuffed, dropping voltage like an interior light causing the alarm to go off///

Hi Madmax,

Here goes

Pulled bonnet up, no slack at all and doesn't set off alarm.

Gave the door a thump as suggested and all doors lock tight.

Side note, even with central locking fuse out, car still alarms!!

Tried new battery, ok for a few hours then, beep beep beep etc.

Took battery out off remote and presto, no central locking but no beeping.

So after this I assume I need a new remote.

PS- new problem, after disconnecting battery on car, the function readout in the dash just flashes the number 5, any ideas on what I need to do there?

Cheers again guys

Remote has a "panic" function where you hold down one button for 3 seconds and the alarm goes off. So if your remote has a stuck button . . . .

"5" is actually an "S", for sedan. Quick press mode button, it changes to "w" for wagon.
Long press sets it, get some beeps. Then "30" and "35" show up, I think, for engine size. Do same short/long press.

Also, if you still have the original radio, it will need code input.

ozverada, have you check the boot trigger. I had the alarm go off randomly on my KS and it was due to a faulty boot trigger tricking the etacs into thinking the boot has openned.

Edit: On second thought, never mind.
