Hay fellas

Since my friend fitted the new 3.8l and heavy duty clutch to my car I found the engine has alot of rock and movement to it. The engine mounts are all pritty much brand new. I was wondering if anyone would know of a solution to help movement. Even in the engine bay while free revving it moves a fair bit.

Thankyoup

The engine mounts are soft rubber and the engine is able to move a fair bit. If you could see under the bonnet during some spirited driving you would see the engine move much more during aggressive gear shifts. It's normal.
You could go to more solid engine mounts to "cure" the movement, but engine vibrations would transfer into the body work and it wouldn't feel very nice. Some cars have engine stays - a solid metal rod with rubber bushings at each end, joining the top of the engine to the bodywork - to minimise this movement.

On the Magna the front and rear roll stoppers are supposed to limit the amount of movement, so check those (02701L and R in the picture) for through bolt tightness, mounting bolt tightness, deterioration.

Seems strange as I didn't notice any difference when my 6G75 got fitted.

Enquire about stiffer mounts from megatron maybe?

I have talked to megatron and ill probably look into buying his mounts in a couple week. I just felt the added power of the 6G75 and torque was jerking around the engine more than the 6G74.

Something your friend has done is wrong then, I have fitted more of these motors to Magna's than most others out there combined. The motor does not move any more than the 3.5l

Either your mounts are shagged OR your mate did not set them correctly and now they are shagged.

Motors are supposed to move to an extent
