Just discovered there is a open hole on the top of the gearbox on my TJ. It is close to the meeting of the gearbox to the engine and is quite large. It looks like a factory made hole but seems like it should be plugged or something. I can see something spinning in there when the car is running (clutch)?

There is also an area next to the hole on the side of the engine head that has mounting points but nothing mounted there. Wondering if something should be mounted there?

Here are some pics so people can see what i mean.

Area under which this hole and mounting points are located (under the thermostat)

That looks like a hole that normally has a rubber grommet/plug in it, it stops dirt getting into the gearbox IIRC. Best chase one up from the wreckers asap.

As for the engine block holes, dont worry about it, I forget what goes on there but if you car doesn't have it its not important lol.

As for that plug aswell, I know there are a couple of metal caps in the gear box so It could also be metal/tin instead of rubber.
