I have seen a few people ask for these specific items.
What is the difference between the auto and manual engine looms and ecu ?
Does a "manual " ECU and or loom offer any advantage over an auto one, or will getting your auto ECU reflashed achieve the same results.
As im running a KJ GTV auto ecu on a car that was tippy ,but is now manual,is there any benefits in getting a Manaul ecu ? or ,as above ,just get it reflashed ?

There few minor things, obviously most of them can be fixed when reflashed (idle revs), major one is fuel cut of on deceleration i believe, on manual it allows revs to drop further then on auto before adding fuel back, guy that did my ecu did not want to change it as he said that map ties in with way to many others, he did not want to change it without testing it our first. Its hardly a reason to change ECU.

The ECUs have different connectors, with the manual ECUs having many fewer pins in those connectors. Internally the newer 32bit ECUs (J series onwards) use different microcontrollers (aka MCU) with different amounts of ROM (flash) and RAM and different numbers of inputs and outputs, though the processor core is the same in both and runs at the same clock speed. The older 16bit auto ECUs actually have 2 identical MCUs, one for the engine and the other for the trans, while the manual ECUs only have a single MCU of the same type used in the auto ECUs.
There is no difference in the engine wiring between the two that I'm aware of; the loom differences amount to that required to support the auto trans.

Notwithstanding the sort of issue Andrei mentioned, the tuning parameters are pretty much identical so for most non-extreme situations reflashing an auto ECU should achieve much the same results as using a manual ECU.

Just get it reflashed.
