Hi all,

I have noticed over rough bitumen or gravel that the rear left door window rattles/buzzes when it s fully up. If I just tap the switch to lower it a tad, the noise disappears. Sometimes, just closing it again stops the noise. Anyone know what is going on? Is the window lose and rubbing against the rubber or is something lose in the door but only when the windows is up?

Cheers all.

Edit: There definitely is more movement when the door is closed and I gently push the top of the window inwards compared with the other 3 doors.

I'm assuming you are talking about the frameless third gen windows. If not, don't bother reading further. lol

With the door closed, wind the window up. Right at the top of it's travel, the top of the glass should show a definite movement in towards the rubber. If it doesn't, it's possible one or both of the two white plastic finger like devices attached to the bottom of the glass inside the door have broken, allowing the window to stay away from the rubber seal. There is a ridge across the top of the seal and the glass is pulled underneath it if it's doing the right thing. If the glass sits on top of that ridge when up you know you have a problem.

You can also see this movement with the door open, near the top of it's travel the glass does a definite lean inwards. (but only if those plastic fingers are doing the right thing.)

If that is the problem, get some from a wreckers. Line it up so it seats neatly inside the metal look inside the door with the glass all the way up.

Other people including me have had this problem, always the rear passenger door for some reason.

Cheers MadMax. However there does not appear to be a gap between the glass and the rubber seal. From memory, the glass does curve inwards at the last moment. Could still be those plastic things deteriorating. How easy is it to remove the door card?

Cheers.

Couple of screws, fingers under bottom edge, pull out to disengage clips, then move up.

\Plastic waterproofing sheet can be unpeeled partially and carefully so it can go back properly later,

Manual outlines in great detail how to set up the glass so it is rattle free and water proof when up if it's not those fingers.

Where abouts are you? May want some guidance. Last time I removed a door card was on my old KS and was a mess.

Don't have the time this arvo to edit, so I'll be uploading the raw footage. Will edit the video in the coming few days...maybe by the end of today even.

Point of me taking off my trims was to fit darker handles as I will be blacking out my interior over the coming week. So there's a bit of extra footage on how to replace the interior door handles as well.

I've got a few things to do, but the videos will be live soon at:

Had the same problem with the passenger rear window which was solved by adjusting the u shaped metal latch inwards a little bit so that the door and window closed up harder against the seals.

Hmm... Guess what, I was closing the drivers door yesterday and heard the rattle from the rear left. Tried again and same rattle. Re-routed the child seat harness to be above the headrest instead of between the headrest and seat back and made it taught and no more buzzing/rattling noises. I think it was the plastic housing for the tension adjustor that was vibrating against the headrest.
