So,whilst changing the bulb, (yes I can even stuff that up) two ball bearings and a spring fell out (left hand side as you sit under it facing front of car) aaaaand now light wont turn on so this leaves me to assume that it... Somehow is part of the switching mechanism, from where I stand it looks like its going to be a pain to get back in, so in the hopes of doing it once, does anyone know which order they go in.. Or of there is an easy way to get behind that plastic slider bit (two obvious screws) is it a good idea to undo these? Will doing so create other problems? Electrical or loose headliner etc? pics to come if needed! thanks in advance!

Springs and balls are part of the detent felt on the switch when you operate it. If they fell out the switch is kaktus. Wrecker visit called for. If it is the basic central light, second and third gen lights are the same. My TL is happy with the TS one I put in it.

Ok... They appeared to be held in by the clear sliding part under the lense so I was wondering if I removed that sliding part they look as if they will go right back in same on right side

Worth a try. Check that none of the clear sliding bits are cracked and loose, there must be a reason those bits fell out.

Yeah, my fault they fell out I put screw driver under slider and the lense at the same time (accidentally of course) so at that moment both lifted out giving it room to fall out yep I failed... Now I just gotta work out what order they go back in I can see one ball bearing at the bottom so I assume spring, bb, bb and I hope two screws arent earthing stuff out or holding up the headliner etc

Well, this could be major, i fixed the switch everything went back in fine BUT now my trip computer resets itself everytime i turn the car off (gotta select sedan 3.5) everytime and central locking no more worky i have visually checked and used a multi meter on each fuse inside the car (ie above where your right foot sits) and they are all fine still gotta check the ones under engine but there is a stupid yellow box around the one that seems to be the interior light fuse so i cannot get to them to check if they are blown or not... and also car seems to idle a little lower now and car take 3-4 seconds longer turning over before it starts......... now is it correct that to get the yellow fuse holder out you just gotta use some elbow grease and yank it out or is there a better way to do it??
Thanks in advance

Update: Faulty earth lead was cause now fixed 2 fuses in yellow holder blew too yay for circuit diagrams! so eventually down to 4 faults bad earth lead, bad earth point, 2 fuses and damaged wire all fixed car is again running like a dream!
