Hey guys
Myself and my partner were sitting watching tv when we looked outside to see my car lights on.
The car hasn't been driven for over 7 hours, the doors were locked. I do leave the lights on all the time, but they normally shut off with the car. The lights were strong - so I doubt they would have been on the whole time.
Anyone else had anything like this?

Seems to be happening more regularly now :/ at least once a week.
I turn the car off, open the door, close the door and when the car locks the lights flash off then on which normally gets my attention.
If I cycle the key to on then off and remove they turn off fine. Very weird

Have you done any work with the wires on your car? I would track back if you had touched your car in any way first to see the possibilities of you could have done.

That's the weird thing - the only addition I've done to the car is adding the iPod kit - nothing else :/

Your car was built on Friday the 13th.
That, or there is a fault somewhere. Indicator stalk, a relay somewhere?

Yeah Madmax is on the money, definately a relay being tripped. Double check nothing is shorting.
It's fine, you just probably messed with something, double check everything what you have been doing to the car the whole year. It can probably be fixed easily if this doesn't work but let's not rush, first double check

Not lights but I have had a ghost in my radio (Stock Ralliart Radio/CD Stacker)
It's only happened 3 times over the 6 years I've had the car but very weird when it does...
The first time, I'd been driving for 20-30mins - just cruising listening to the Radio when the volume seemed to get lower. I reached to turn it up, but before my hand got to the radio, I saw the volume numbers on the radio display suddenly increase all by itself. I looked in amazement (and a bit of amusement) until the volume was just too loud and I manually turned it back down to where I had it. After that, nothing, back to normal.
The second time was a year or so later, this time I'd only been driving for very short distance (just come out of my driveway). I turned the radio up. It then went up more by itself, then down and then up again. Then stopped.
The third time, I was listening to a CD, the volume turned up by itself then back down to zero. Then stopped by itself again.
All three times seem to be different - different driving times, locations and random volume levels. Once when I know I'd just touched the radio and changed the volume and twice when I had not touched it for around 15-20mins.

Is a common problem, is the stalk, we sell on average 4 - 6 of these each week. Through Mits you will expect to pay between $235 up to RRP of $285, we do brand new genuine ones for $139 inc postage
The same stalk is used on the CH Lancer, Outlander and NP Pajero

And it is pretty easy to swap over yourself.

Thanks MadMagna - guess that would be related to another issue I'm having with the indicators not staying engaged. I flick the switch and they flash once then stop. I'll order a new one next time I'm paid.
Cheers guys

Without exaggeration - I don't know what we'd do without Mal on here?

That's a dead giveaway, should have mentioned that earlier.
Same happened on my son's Lancer, but do some research on the web before you spend money, as it can be a problem with the connection to the wiring rather than the unit itself. Worth a look anyway.

Used to have intermittent problem with my indicator, so order a new stalk in but after removing the old indicator stalk, decided to gave it a good clean up with contact cleaner and now it appear to be working perfectly. Now left with a spare indicator stalk.
Any one interested in a 380 " brand new JDM indicator stalk" pls PM me.

How do you actually go about removing the indicator stalk?
I've removed all the screws (behind steering wheel and under steering column) but still can't seem to get the casing off.
Is it just a matter of prying it really hard?

Yes, you just need to get a really small screw driver and pry it open, there are 2 clip holding on either side of the casing.
After the casing are removed, pull the stalk out. Remove the indicator stalk pcb board with small screw driver and clean up all the contact with cotton buds dip in contact cleaner. You can also adjust the metal contact pin by carefully using your finger, giving it more contact.
