View Full Version : Exhaust size?
As my exhaust system has more holes than swiss cheese, I'm considering upgrading it.
I was thinking about a 2¼" system?
Anybody had experience with different size exhausts on these suckers?

Mate I asked the same question bout 3 weeks ago.I got a 2.25 inch cat back system with a lukey muffler. Sounds like the devil is coming to dinner and car performs heaps better too. If you can do it i would recomend the upgrade. Llama

2.25 with a high flow cat should be nice, Id go 2.36 or 2.5 if you're going to do any major work to the intake side of things. But yeah, 2.25 should be pleanty without losing too much back-pressure. Ive got a 2.5 with a 41/46 dual throat webber, sounds wikked with the revs over 2800 at the start of second stage... but damn does she drink the fuel...
BTW does anyone know the exact size of the stock piping, just curious.

whatever you chose do not get press bends or wildcat extractors.
i reckon a 2.5 inch with no cat or hollow and some good extractors. cat back exhausts are pointless
Yeah hollow or no cat, then comes the time you fluke getting an emissions test and get utterly raped by the cops, isn't no cat / hollow cat / broken cat like a federal crime or something big like that?

Im pretty sure it is illegal in all states to have no cat or intentionally cause it not to function, ie hollow it out. I dont think you can get done if you havent touched it and its just worn out, I think they only last a couple of years anyway. Get a High flow to be on the safe side.

the stock piping is 1.75". 2.25" is enough for sure. y pay for a hi-flow cat ($200+) wen u can go to the wreckers and get say a holden or falcon cat (6 cyl cats) and put that on. they have 2.25/2.5" exhausts stock, and that is a hi-flow cat for a smaller 4 cyl :D
least u have one then and u didnt pay bulk $$$ for it. it'll still work like it's sposed too

i wasn't telling them to buy a 20 year old falcon cat. i was gunna explain to them to get a newish cat from a newish car... but i didn't think i would have to explain this cause it's obvious. but yeah... thanks captain obvious!
