Just installed a saas wheel on the TE however the horn button isn't working.
I've checked behind the adapter and it seems to be making good contact with the clock spring.
I've tried a number of wiring combinations without any luck.
Anyone else had this issue? Could i have a dud kit? Maybe a blown fuse? Can anyone tell me which fuse is for the horn, my panel is missing which has all the icons :).

Is the horn working.? Short it out to make sure it is working ok first.?

Aftermarket steering wheels are unlikely to comply with ADRs and you should think about this before installing them, for your own safety.

Haven't wired it wrong?
I doubt it, there's a red wire (which looks like it connects to the contact ring behind the shaft that connects to the clock spring), and a black wire which is screwed to the shaft itself. These then plug into the horn pad, I assume the horn pad is just a simple grounding switch, so it shouldn't matter which way around these 2 plugs are (I tried both ways and having just 1 of each connected).
Is the horn working.? Short it out to make sure it is working ok first.?
If by short out you mean connect the 2 wires, yeah I did try that and I would have expected that to set off the horn but it didn't.
The only thing I didn't do in the instructions is disconnect the battery first, I'm guessing it's possible a fuse has blown during my fumbling around, I'll have to get the lid off a fuse box from the wreckers and see.
There's nothing special I need to do with the wiring is there? Or the clock spring mechanism?

Actually one thing I should mention, I noticed that the relay in the engine bay that had a horn symbol for it was missing, I plugged this in (a spare relay I had) but that didn't make a difference, however I didn't test other combinations of wiring after doing this.
Does anyone know what that relay does specifically? I could have sworn the horn was working on the old wheel without this relay in.

Be careful mate, I fitted a SAAS wheel to my old TE many years ago and had trouble with the horn wiring. Eventually after fiddling with the connections I got it to work (so I thought), then a couple of days later walking back to my car from the footy I thought "what's that horrible racket?". It was my horn going flat chat, and probably had been since I parked it a couple of hours earlier. Only way I could shut it up was to pull the power lead off the horn. Luckily the battery wasn't flat and the car started OK.
After mucho more fiddling with the wires and half a dozen removals & refits of the wheel, I eventually got it to work properly. I can't remember now how I fixed it, but I think it had something to do with the red wire connection to the horn ring, which had to be 'just right'. But all the removing & refitting of the wheel stuffed up a couple of the splines, and a few days later I went to turn a corner and the wheel just spun in my hands and the front wheels didn't turn! I managed to hit the skids in time to avoid hitting anything, and I was able to re-tighten the nut using my wheel brace. Did it up super tight and never had the steering wheel slip on me again.

Pretty sure it did as I vaguely remember testing it when I put the verada wheel on there. I guess I can put the verada wheel back on and test to make sure.

Yikes that's a scary story. The metal ring seems to be making good contact with the spring behind, so the only thing left I can think of is the red wire not playing nice. I did wiggle this around a little but it seems nice and tight.
Maybe I'll try a wire coming straight from the brass ring to the horn and see if that works, might indicate a dodgy kit. Also will try the old wheel just to make sure the horn does work. Could still be a fuse i reckon.

Could also be a dodgy horn button. When i worked at Autobarn a few years ago, it was a common occurance for horn buttons to be faulty.

That's what I thought at first but I tried the one that came with the wheel and the boss kit, no luck, also bridging the wires does nothing either.
I just found a post from 2 years ago with a picture of the horn logo in the engine bay, will go check the fuse for it now.

Fuse is fine, swapped it over with the hazards fuse, the hazards kept working, horn still no worky.
I'll try swapping over the verada/standard wheel on the weekend and see if that works. If it does I'll just take the boss kit back and get a new one, unless I can fix it in the meantime :D.

OK - So I was reading through the instructions again and found a snippet of info saying the steering wheel was illegal on a post 1996 vehicle, bugger! So I've replaced the wheel again with the stockie.
Here's the kicker. Put it all back together, turned on acc, hit the horn and it sounded for about half a second then went silent. Now even on the standard wheel the horn isn't working (but it did for a split second).
I've checked fuse in the engine bay and that seems ok, I tried touching the wire from the metal ring to various ground points with no horn sounding. Could I have blown the horn? Where is the horn? How can I test it?
I've returned the steering wheel and will return the boss kit tomorrow night as I don't think that ever worked. What an adventure for such a simple thing lol.

Are you pressing horn pad on the edges or the centre?
I find mine has been fiddly since I replaced the horn for a pair of 380 horns. Its hit and miss if you press it on the either side of the outer edges of the horn pad, but works fine in the centre. Mine has an airbag though, so the issue may differ somewhat.

Yeah pressing the horn in the centre/sides every which way, no sound :(.
Where is the horn located physically?
