Hey everyone, I've got a really good question. I have been monitoring my fuel usage over the last few weeks and I've noticed in my results i tend to get more fuel economy when driving with the air-con on one bar and any temperature below 24 degrees. So instead of averaging 530kms with a tank of fuel with the air-con off completely, Ive been averaging around 600kms+ with the air-con on on the same trips to and from work and to family's places. I just find that a little strange shouldn't it be the opposite?
Does anyone know if this is normal?

Mythbusters proved that driving with the A/C on over with it off and a window down was more economical due to wind drag etc.

Thanks Cashie, I actually just did a search and found the mythbusters video you mentioned and your right, i usually do about 90% of my driving over 80kms/hr on the freeway so i can understand the fuel usage difference now.
Yep, I can also agree with that, and its one of the reasons I never drive with my window down.... Gimmie Air con any day over a wound down window... :)

I often drive with the sunroof fully open and the rear windows down a couple of inches, air gets pulled in the sunroof and out the rear windows, can cool the car down quite quickly.
