TL Engine Cutting Out when slowing down
The engine is cutting out when slowing down, and I've gotta drop it into neutral to start then engine, then I have to kick it into drive before it cuts out showing the battery light in the display.
OK, the symptoms:
a. When the car is coming up to a corner, intersection and round about, the engine cuts out
b. When I start the car in neutral its struggle and almost cut out, but it regains itself and remains in idle
c. Driving is fine, i can get the car up to whatever speed and its fine, I take my foot off the accelerator and it doesn't cut out until it gets down to about 20km a hour
d. When the car is cold and hasn't been driven for a day or so, it actually works ok for 5 minutes and doesn't cut out. But it seems the warmer the car gets the worse the cutting out is.
I think its the ECU or the idle speed controller but am not to sure, if anyone can help in anyway it would be much appreciated.

To me sounds like a fuel pump..if you're cornering or leaning fuels not getting to the engine. Although the more knowledgeable will probably prove me wrong haha

Idle Speed Controller Motor For Sure!
"When the car is cold and hasn't been driven for a day or so, it actually works ok for 5 minutes and doesn't cut out. But it seems the warmer the car gets the worse the cutting out is."
Classic Symptom!
(There's a million threads on this topic, so I won't say any more! LO)

Check for oil leaks around the rocker gasket and take the plug leads out on the front bank if they have oil on them or there is oil from the rocker gaskets that is your problem. Fixed them on my old Tl on the front bank and put new seals in and it fixed the issue you are talking about.

I had a similar problem in a Magna I bought recently. It turned out to be just a blown fuse in the engine bay. Does the fuel computer display reset each time? The car was effectively being re-set each time the car was turned off. But you still need to go thru the re-learn procedure. Hope this helps

Disconnecting the battery resets the ECU. I'm not aware of the ISC having any adjustment, but they can be cleaned - see grelise's DIY (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87966).
Another thing that I seem to recall giving similar sorts of issues (esp temp related) is the ignition coil in the distributor.
If the oxygen sensor has never been replaced and your fuel economy seems worse than it should be then the oxygen sensor may also be dead. The simplest test I know of for this is to reset the ECU, disconnect the oxygen sensor (there's a connector in the centre console near the ECU) and start the engine - if the engine runs much better with the sensor disconnected than with it connected, further investigation is indicated (resetting the ECU is recommended so that testing is done with reset fuel trims, and the test should be done after the engine has been warmed up).

How long has this been happening? You could try the ECU reset as its relatively pain free and easy to do yourself.
Usually if you reset the ecu by disconnecting/ reconnecting the battery, the ecu is supposed to "learn" the correct idle/revs by itself. Once reconnecting you have to select your engine size and body type using the "mode" button. Then start the car, you may have to keep the handbrake up just incase or your foot on the brake and with the air conditioner "ON" put it in reverse, drive, neutral etc for about 5 mins each.
Although last time i did this it ran fine until i put the air con on. It was only after i drove it for another 20 mins with the aircon on that it "learned" to pick the revs up and idle better.
If this fails to work......
