Hey guys. Long story short, from what I can see, my car has started leaking oil (suspect a gasket?)

But also, really bloody convieniantly, my car chose the hottest week to have the AC fail on me.

Is there any basic troubleshooting I can carry out to see if there is a user-serviceable issue with the system?

Basically, I've checked the heater core flap cable (unhooked, attempted moving the white slider) and it's as cold as it will go. The air is still quite warm on recycled air and outside air. But I've put this down to excessive heat soak in the dash.

But the AC woes. When I press the AC button, the green light comes on, and if I'm idling then the revs change, to me this rules out an ISC issue (revs change with steering wheel aswell) and from what I can see the compressor (I think that's what I'm looking at, below the alternator) is spinning.

Oh, and when on fan speed 1 or 2, I can hear a very faint hiss noise coming from the left of the car, in or around the HVAC unit.

Is it likely to be a regassing solution? If so is that relatively straight forward and quick? ( I work full time 9 - 5:30 so would most likely be dropping it off during work hours)

Cheers guys.

AC specialists love the hot weather as people "suddenly" discover their system is not working correctly and want it fixed ASAP. Make a booking and hope for the best. Might be a bit of a waiting list.
Oil leaking? Yes, it would be a gasket. lol Which one though? Give the engine a good clean and check often and try to locate where the leak is.
