Hi Guys,
I've finally laid out some cash and purchased a TJ Wagon. Had to hop a flight to SA and check out a couple of dealers (first dealer was rude & trying to sell a car with obvious front end damage) to finally get this one - and no I did not pay $6990: http://tinyurl.com/avhgv82
It will need some work to bring it up to Victorian roadworthy specs - but not too much (I hope). Now some of you may remember that this will be a "Dogmobile", i.e. it will carry my wife and our dogs around to dog shows etc. For that we want the rear seat to lay fully flat and lock down - but cannot work out how that happens? Can anyone help - so far we've even stood on it without success? :woot:

On my TE wagon (which has TL seats), I just hold the unlock switch in, fold down til I hear a "click" and let go and then it's locked in.

He wants it fully flat Leigh.
What you do is take the bottom seat out, there are ring pulls under the seats on each side to release it. Then just put it down into the foot well

Welcome to the world of 3rg gen wagon owners .... "we're special" .... One thing I did when I got the wagon was to go to Clarke Rubber and get some thick foam sheeting and laid that under the carpet from under the rear seat to the tailgate, it made what can be a noisy ride into a more rather quiet ride especially when it's raining.

What? My TL wagon folds flat in the back without ripping it apart like that. lol
EDIT: Just went and checked, no ring pulls. The seat locks down not quite flat - perfect for a medium sized dog to stand behind the driver and slobber in his ear while driving. lol

LOL, nothing gets ripped apart :P
But it's handy to do it that way when you have to load a few long but large items in like marquess with 3" frames!
I'd take a photo but my car is in many pieces with everything on the back seat

Yup in both of the sportswagons I have experienced the bottom rear seat needs to be taken out. My father does this on a regular occasion in order to carry his music PA around, and it doesnt cause him any hassle. It takes 10 seconds to put in and take out.
A family friend has a TF Advance and swears that his seats fold completely flat. This would make sense as the TH-TW wagons have far more padded seats. Sadly though TE-TF seats wont slip into the TH-TW without modification as the whole latching sequence is different AFAIK

Hi Prowler,
The noise of the ride is not too bad at present - just want to lock that damn rear seat down. :kb:

All,
We've tried everything - including removing the seat squab; but absolutely nothing will make this thing lock down! :eek2:

My dog prefers to ride with the back seat up so he can lean on the window sill with his head out and the seat can support him.

Hey Prowler - nice lookin' boy!
Unfortunately we have an even 1/2 dozen at present - and the wife is dreaming of #7, so not nearly enough room in there for the whole team!
Not to mention the damage that powerful jaws did to the TP - we need to give them as little opportunity as possible.

may be a stupid question, but does the seat lay down in the 3rd gen sedan?

Nope. It hooks onto a sheet of metal
