Hi everyone,
I bought a new battery from super cheap. gave it a good charge and installed it. after about 40 kms the car stalled on me (Auto transmission). put a multimeter on the terminals and was only getting 12.44v.started ignition and was getting 14.01 v on idle. seemed alright to me.
after recharging again, I put the multi back on again and was getting 12.7v and 14.01 on idle. I turned on the AC and the voltage dropped to 11.9v when the compressor started while idling.engine nearly stalled again! shut off engine and was only reading 12.5v......
Installed original battery, which is 6 years old and multied it and got 12.7v, 14.01v on idle and only dropped to 13.8v when AC kicked in.....
Is this a bad battery or an unsuitable battery.....??

Any help would be appreciated.

its probably the ecu relearning to idle again.... it takes a while with autos before they learn to open isc to stop stalling, they learn...

Trotty, if it was that, why would putting the old battery in cause the problem to cease? A battery is just that... nothing smart, just a voltage and amperage. The IAC valve should still operate all the same and prevent stalling.

Is the battery the same type? Plain lead acid, sealed, calcium? Is your charger the right type for the new battery? You can't use a lead acid charger on a calcium or sealed battery for example.

Is it the correct CCA/RC?

What are the terminals like on the new battery? Did you clean the surface of them and your cable lugs before connecting?

Why did you charge up the new battery for?
Should be able to put it in without charging it
Tell us more about the battery, if faulty send it back and grab a supercharge gold battery (silver one would be fine also if you wanna save acouple of dollars)
