Hi all,

Im currently driving a Mitsubishi Magna - Solara 2001 model.
Ive got a hold of 2 LED strips (20cm each) that i would like to install in the footwell on both driver and passenger sides.

Ive done some searching on the topic and found out the following:
This (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92698&highlight=footwell+light) asks a similar question with the following answer:

and wire them to the interior roof light circuit
Could someone explain why this is required and how i would go about it?

I would like these lights to turn on when the doors any door is open. (Works the same way as the interior light i assume)

I'm not confident at exploring my car by pulling it apart and guessing where cables go/come from. So i was hoping somebody here that may have done a similar project could give me some insight as to how i would do this.

The LED strips run off a positive and negative wire - so from a logical perspective i could just find the switch in the car door that activates the interior light and connect it here right?

Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated.

It will be a red/black wire at the top of the fuse box in a small plug. Since you have a pov spec, the wire will be with a red wire in a plug all on its own. Use that for power and use a seperate earth anywhere.

Since you have a pov spec

Can you explain what this means?

He means poverty spec as in base spec. So basically connect the +ve of the LED to the above mentioned red wire and the -ve of the LED to a good ground point in the car.

Higher speced cars will already have footwell lights which you can splice the LED wiring into.

Thanks for the clarification :)
