Just wondering if anyone can explain the difference between climate control & standard air con....and could climate control be easily fitted to a TH exec that has standard air con...

If we consider how costly it is to run air-con then we might want to optimize the efficiency by automating some of the functions (such as temperature and fan speed control) so that the best balance between performance and economy is achieved.

Other considerations are humidity control and fresh/air circulation control and hands free operation.
Climate control is the solution in the car, and it automatically manages these features.

Speaking of this, my KH did a great job but was a little noisy going about it, whereas the KL is very quiet but seems to achieve the same result. Just runs the fan slower.
I still prefer the KH's little computer display - very cool :)

Standard a/c has to be manually adjusted, and climate control is for intents and purposes set and forget, you set the temp and it blends and directs the air for you. having said that you can also select your mode, compressor behaviour, and fan speed manually.
If the TH is the same as the TJ then you can either swap out the Dashboard and engine bay(?) wiring harness or make up a retrofit harness as i did.

It can be done, have done it many times

Being the TH you have slightly different harness in the car so you will either need the KH Verada Ei dash loom with all actuators etc OR you can use the TJ BUT you will need to also change engine bay wiring with it as well

It is either way a dash out job, you have a main harness to change over as well.

thanx for the responses guys - seem a little too complicated to bother with. My ac has just been re gassed & works well so ill stick with that for now :)

Hey guys,

Just thought I would use this thread instead of starting a new one. To install climate control in my TJ Exec, would that be a dash out job as well, or is it easier?

I've got both a TJ with standard air and a TL with climate control air conditioning. Both are easy to use, but would I want to pull the dash apart on the TJ to "upgrade" it to auto climate control? No!

Doesn't answer your question, other than to say it's probably not worth the bother.

Yeah well I am happy with the way the A/C works at the moment, was just a question because if the dash didn't have to be removed then it may have been a future mod. Otherwise I will spend the money on something better haha.

As Mal said, with the TJ you'd need to change your dash looms (both dash and cluster), as well as add in the servo's, replace the heater box sensor, bypass the heater box thermostat and fit up the climate control unit.
Might also be a great opportunity to upgrade your cluster and most definitely replace your heat core seals.

I've done it before, not that big of a job, if the car isn't required daily. For most people, it's a dash out job, unless you're the skilled "the_ash" did the conversion by custom wiring a hybrid loom.
