I have asked this before but now I have more info.An SRS qualified Auto Electrician has confirmed that the reason this light stays on is a fault 92 left side crash sensor, ECU is Ok as is wiring, 100% its the sensor has failed. $160 for that report.:eek2:
Mitsi dealer = $400, Online new from Japan via an American site (Diamante) for $161 US plus Post, local wrecker in Adelaide = $45 from a non deployed wreck.
Main question is if I replace sensor with a good one will light go out. I realise the actual fault code may be memory stored in ECU but that can wait till i need another scan. I want light to go out.
Also any comments or experiences on the 3 options I have described.
Thanks for any advice

Have yiu disconnected any of the airbag system while the battery was connected?

If you have, it may be as simple as getting the fault code cleared

Nope. The SRS light came on out of the blue. The Auto Elec can't clear the code or the warning light, in his words proving it is an active fault.
Thanks anyway

The SRS system will actually auto clear when the issue is rectified. I had a similar issue a while ago with my right side airbag, ended up pulling the seat out and cleaning the connection points on the loom. Problem solved.

This probably won't work for you, but for my NL Pajero, the SRS light came on and would not go off. Eventually I found that the power supply to the SRS computer had failed - because it came from the reversing (back-up) light circuit and the fuse had blown. Put another fuse in and it blew as well. Put a new reversing light switch in and all is well.

So check your circuit diagrams and se where the SRS power supply comes from and you may be lucky like me???
