Guys,
Given the advantages of an LSD, particularly for front wheel drive like the 380, does anyone know of an Australian manufacturer who makes LSD's for the 380? Does Quaife still make them for the Galant and Eclipse? Website doesn't say much. if so, how easy are they to fit? and what would the cost be?

Nothing will bolt straight into an auto I'm afraid ..... However I do have a Quaife LSD in mine, it is actually a Quaife centre for a manual Magna, the crown wheel holes were welded & then redrilled to suit the 380 crown wheel & the 380 drive shafts resplined to suit the Magna diff spline count which I think is one less tooth from memory. All has to be case hardened again etc
Mine cost around $4100 all up ..... $1300 for Quaife, $2100 for machining & $700 to fit.

Question, why respline the drive shafts when you can use a pair of Magna shafts in the 380. The rhs intermediate shaft also fits the block, from what I have played with thus far the abs rings swap straight over to retain the same count, I have used 380 shafts in a Magna with no issues so 99% sure would go the other way as well. This would significantly reduce the cost of the conversion

Not sure, you're friend BS organised it all so I just forked out the cash. If what you say works cheaper all well & good for other 380 owners.

Oh your are talking about mr bull shit, the bloke with multiple personality disorder :)
Figures, he was at my place once when we compared both the magna and 380 and we both concluded the same

Hi Fooz,
Thanks. It looks like I'll need to save up for all that!

Or maybe not save so much going by Mals reply below.

$1300 for Quaife, $700 for installation, + whatever $$$ to do what Madmagna said :)
Good tyres and good suspension would be a much better value for money proposition if you don't already have both.

It's probably not going to be a massive amount cheaper as the diff centre still needs to be modded to take the 380 crown wheel & you will be buying some Magna shafts if they all fit as Mal says.

Thread has been cleaned up for those too soft to take a simple reply to something totally off topic anyway, lets keep to the topic of the LSD conversion and not how rare some of these car may be or how expensive this conversion is compared to a spark plug on uncle festers victa lawn mower please

Take about a grand off that value if you use a wavetrac LSD instead & the driveshafts from the magna swap over.
