I'm in the process of replacing the exhaust centre section on my TF Magna 3 litre. After being assured what I was being sent was the correct identical replacement, what was delivered was the wrong one. That was taken away and a Reback exhaust supplied and it was supposed to be identical to OE. Unfortunately, it isn't.

(1) One of the problems is that the mufflers/resonators are round and not oval. They are also longer than the original oval muffler.

The issue is that I can't fit the original heat shields because they are now too long because of the extra length of the round muffler.

These are the heat shields on the bottom and they are put there to stop grass fires which did happen when cars were parked over long grass or by farmers parking in paddocks.

What has everyone else done with the lower heat shields?

(2) The second problem is that the Redback system doesn't have a tab or threaded nut around the centre rubber support to attach the earth strap. So much for being identical to OE! Tomorrow I will buy a U-bolt type muffler clamp and use that for the earth strap.

(3) The final item is the Redback pipe is 3mm smaller OD and 6mm smaller on the bends than the standard system. I'll have to wear this as I need the car for Sunday.

I've got the exact same exhaust. Bin the heat shields and avoid long grass ;-)

well well well....look who the cat dragged in....:) G'day Schnell

My experience is that there were always subtle changes from model to model when it comes to exhaust. As for heat shields you made need to fabricate a little.
