Hi guys,

For someone who would want a manual Verada KJ, would it be easier/best to start with a verada and do a manual conversion, or start with a manual Magna and put the Verada bits onto it?

I assume "easier" might be starting with a Magna, but maybe this would cost more?

Its going to depend on ones mechanical expertise and what they consider 'easier' .

I would say if you want a manual verada then buying a verada and changing it to manual would be 'easier'. Picking off a box, refitting a manual one, lining up the clutch, fitting a hydraulic line and some master/slave cyclinders, a pedal box and some light wiring modifications would be easier to me then ripping out an interior interior, refitting a new loom/ecu/bem/sensors plus external bumpers, mirrors, and putting new interior bits.

If you find removing most of the interior trim, replacing looms and doing wiring modifications then obviously that's easier for you. I find mechanical things easier.

Personally Id still get a magna and turn it to a verada because the magna would be lighter to begin with and then id be able to manage how much extra weight id want to add to it.

That being said, I would say it would cost you more to go from magna->verada mock-up because if you're buying individually buying the rada bits then it would probably be pricier overall (ecu, bem, recoding keys, new looms, sensors, leather seats, new dash, climate control ecu & panels, cluster, interior trims plus pass airbag). If you got lucky then you might be able to get a cheap rada xi wreck for 600-800 which would be the price of a brand new clutch.

Does depend really. I mean I did my conversion for the price of a xi rada wreck but had bought the parts from mitsfix and then had him or anouther professional to fit it then the costs would've been significantly higher. It'll depend on how much work you'd want to do yourself and the prices you'd be paying for the parts.

I'm on the opposite end of the scale..

Verada + Manual

That way everything is, as it is from the start and you're changing the bits nobody sees!

Buy a verada and convert it to manual. You might even score a sunroof out of it.
