hey man,
i ahve the same problem. but i havent noticed it recently... i have a new stereo in my car... that might be why.. i stopped caring after a while..
i dont know how to fix it, i think it has something to do with the seal and the way the window is.. not sure though..

Its the seal and a bloody anoying problem it is if your unlucky enough to have it. Make sure your window is all the way up so starts, if it still makes the noise then check the condition of the seal.

Sunroof..... Get an after market sunroof... these days the look factory and not only do they look cool, but they have a great purpose of being able to let the hot air staight out the top of your car, and, at least in my experience in other cars, you get no where near the wind noise..

Could be the window seals as was pointed out, the rear window seals have a big problem with falling out, causing a gap and that leads to a whistling noise. Anothing thing is make sure the windows a up fully, it sounds stupid but make sure they are up tight. Being sill less windows, it really does need to be a tight fit in order to get no noise.

With your side mirrors, using some very light sand paper, smooth out the hard line edge which is around mirrior around 30mm back from the front (hard to explain), it looks like a valley that runs around the whole mirrior. This will reduce resistance and hence reduce whistel.

Well, do I feel like a bit of a moron.... I should have read the post a little clearer. Can't say i have had a wind noise problem with the windows all the way up, however, with the windows part way down, I find the wind noisue un barable.... I either have to have the windows all the way down, or it is the air con for me.... wish I had a Sunroof!

Yeh actually on my 99TH sports there is an annoying whistle that happens from the wind in between the mirror and the window.. whenyou have the window (drivers side) all the way down it has this annoying whistle - and it cant be the seals or anything cos if you put your hand in the space between then the noise goes away..

i also had a wind noise problem in the back window when it was fully up over about 80k/h, but that was easily fixed by just adjusting the door so it sat a bit tighter against the seal - now all is well !

seriously though after about 3 months you wont even notice the noise is there..

hey all

i have the same problem - but normally only over 130 (thats with the windows up)

the wind noise inbetween the mirror and the open window - just rest your hand there while driving

or get some aftermarket mirros - aerotyope style

there is of course the simple solution....do what i did, wrap electrical tape around the joins of the mirror, works a treat and i havent had the noice since.

ok like totally ignore my last post, i was momentarily on a different planet! thought u were talking about the mirror making noises like mine used to, 60km and faster would make horrible squealy sounds, annoyed the crap out of me. but that has absolutly nothing to do with the topic everyone else was talking about!

i think i'll just crawl back into my box now......

Thanks guys? The next question I suppose is what are the
best after market mirrors for the magna I was going to change them
any ways because the stock ones stick out like a sore thumb.

I don't know if its possible to swap the magna mirrors as the are attached to the body of the car and not the window frame...

Actually off topic - when you guys do about 100 with the back windows down does anything weird happen - LIKE THE ROOF LINING COLLAPSING!?!?!?

i did 180 with the windows down on the way home from work once and the roof lining collapsed in the middle like there was heaps of wind underneath it - but now if i have the back windows down when i go over about 80k the centre of the roof near the back folds down in like a V shape, then returns once you slow down... weird.

Maybe i have a ghost or something :)

seriously though i cant see if there should be something at the back holding the roof up - it all seems to be held up properly...?

Im sure that looks great aswell :)

I had that sound with my old TE and i found after spending a lil time polishing the mirrors the sound went away. may have had a similar effect to sand papering it.
