View Full Version : How to source certain plugs?

You guys will laugh at this one:

So I bought a chromatic mirror and loom sometime last year and wired it in.
At that time I had a plug with two wires spare, which I eventually figured to be the drivers chromatic. So I unpinned them, thinking they went straight to the door plug B20.
This week I've finally come around to installing the Driver's chromatic and, looking at the manual, noticed the grave mistake I made. Now I need to source the plug, B-19, 14 pin, connection of dash and roof harness.

Is that something Mitsubishi spares would sell?

Unlikely mate, most manufacturers sell the connectors with the attaching loom/harness only.

This x100. Why I love pick-a-part wreckers!!

I've got a few spare looms around the house so I probably have that plug. If only you were in Melb >.<

I can send you some pins to add to your current plug if you would like. I keep at least 2 high spec car looms spare at all times for this reason. It is always better to use spare pins in existing loom plugs than run new wires everywhere.

Thanks guys. :)

When I initially unpinned them I was inserting everything through the A-Pillar and the plug was too big. Then I had the idea the plug didn't belong there in the first place (2pins for such a big plug). I didn't even consult the manual at the time.
After the move it must have ended up in one of the million boxes or might have been thrown away.

The factory pins are still there. It's the Black/Red and Black/Green wires that turn into Yellow/Red and Yellow/Green at the dash harness. It's a 14Pin white plug. The female version, the one that the other plugs in to.

I would do a wrecker run if I had a car (also have a good six weeks to get my license back), but its still up on the stands.
There's no pick-a-part wreckers in Canberra that I know of, and the wreckers that do me favors are a little out of the way.

I completely agree Mike. I much prefer a proper factory look and pins that correspond with the manual.

If I post up a pic of the mating end could you have a look Aiden? More than happy to reimburse you. :)

The reason there is only 2 pins in that plug is because it is also used for the sunroof wiring. In my car it is quite full.

I didn't think about the sunroof wiring at the time, unfortunately. :/

If you could show a picture, I could match it to my loom. Might even get the colours right ;)

Won't ask for much, maybe to cover the postage or something. Just might be a slight delay as I'm working full time. Lucky for you, one of my stores I regularly visit have a post office ;)
