Hey guys
My drivers side seat shield keeps breaking at the screw at the front. Mitsu have replaced it twice under warranty but that has since expired
Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this? Or any mods to stop it breaking?

This has happened to me too many times, on both sides. I've pulled the seat trim off and tried to use glue to strengthen it, which worked for a while, then the drivers side has recently broken once again, at the front screw. My next course of action is to head down to Bunnings and try to find a metal bracket to replace the flimsy plastic one. I might post pictures if I find an appropriate sized bracket.

Same thing happened to me, the little hole in the plastic trim that the screw goes through was cracked, the screw wouldn't hold properly and the trim would just pull away from the screw, leaving the screw behind.
First thing I tried was to strengthen the hole/join by putting a small metal washer between the screw and the trim hole.
Worked for a little while but the trim still 'pulled through'.
About a month ago I superglued the metal washer to the trim hole, and it seems to have worked, it's stayed put ever since.
But I'm also a little more careful about plonking myself into the driver's seat!
Worth a try I reckon.

Have the seats fitted to my magna. First thing I noticed while installing them into the car. Doing what KJ380 mentioned works a treat.
Must be a post 2005 thing. Our Outlander rearseat used by my oldest has the same issue. Will try to glue a plastic washer to see if it helps.

Haha wow. I literally had to fix mine today as well. I superglued a washer on to either side of the existing (broken) hole and let it dry overnight before screwing it back on.
I too have had the drivers one replaced once under warranty, and the passenger one as well (but that was already broken when I got the car)

You think they would have designed it better - or at least made changes to it after they all started breaking
Good to see I'm not going batshit insane and other people have it too. I thought it was just my fat arse!

I suspect having a fat arse (or at least a bit of weight) has a lot to do with it!
I'm no scrawny runt (98kg) and I know Stephen (Minotaur) is no little fella either.

So after a few days of running with metal washers glued on either side of the front tab, I can say that this one hasn't come apart, however there seems to be a tab about halfway along the side of the seat (above the seat control) that comes out as well. I suspect that what's actually happening is this one comes out first, which increases the pressure on the front tab - the whole shield twists around on this new "pivot" point which breaks the front tab.
Not sure if there's a better way to secure the side tab better short of gluing it.
This may not be such a bad option actually, even with the shield properly in place it's still possible to change the seat cover (takes a bit of extra fiddling around though) and the only reason you'd have for removing the shield besides that is if the seat controls shat themselves.

It's Steven with a V :)
Good thing it's not with a PH otherwise my number plates would cost more to lease LOL.

Defiantly not going insane. I've been through two of them. Think the issue is more when you go to get out of the car and press down on that side of the seat. Dam annoying. Need to go to bunnings tomorrow and buy me some washers and superglue

Washer and Araldite glue, seems to be holding in my case.
