Hi all, first time post from a new member... How are you all?

I am the owner of a 2002 4 speed auto Verada. Had the vehicle for 6 months & love it!! Smooth sailing up until recently when the aircon decided to show signs of strange behaviour.

Firstly, the aircon is working.. Just not as it should be! When I engage the aircon, the fan speed is not able to be adjusted. the climate control works fine, I can only turn the aircon cooling off but the fan is still operating Just can't turn off the fan itself. The fan speed buttons do not have any impact on the operation of the unit nor does the on off switch. The only way to stop the fan from running is to take the fuse out from the drivers side fuse box. When its hot, I put the fuse back in. So in a nutshell.. the fan up/down switches and the ability to turn the fan completely off are the issue.

Any advice on the above would be greatly appreciated :)

Oh yeah... Any ideas on what kind of glue to use to re-suspend the felt on the roof as this has now started to come away and start flapping like a bird in the back of the car!!

Cheers

Hi, welcome to AMC, I'm not sure about the air con but the roof lining can easily be fixed, you can't really glue the old roof lining back up as theres a thin layer of foam that deteriorates with age between the felt and the backing board, you need to buy new roof lining material and at least one can of the spray on adhesive, There's videos on YouTube to show you how to do this, its seems like a big job but its not too bad just takes about 3 hours, just take your time and it will look like new, costs about $100 all up for the spray on adhesive and the material., cheers and all the best

i'd suspect that the fan speed is either a fault in the Climate ECU or the Fan speed transistor. you need to determine if the Climate ECU is sending the wrong signal, or if the transistor is shorting. If you disconnect the climate ECU and the fan stops turning then its likely to be the ECU but if it continues to run then its the transistor. you could also use an LED test light on the light-green/red wire on the transistor to determine if the signal is changing when you alter the fan speed. or mark the wire location on the terminal block and reverse out the terminal (no signal = no fan)

Hi, Sorry for the delay in reply. The roof went well thanks to the youtube video on how to do it. Time consuming but well worth it. Thanks :)
the_ash thank you for this information, I will have a look further into this also. Luckily we live in a mild climate zone SW WA. :)

Cheers

if the panel is a climate control panel then i have one here that should suit what your after but will double check with part numbers if you require it. As for the roof liner i know its only about$100 to do0 it your self but i only paid $160 to have it done professionally by a motor trimmer just seems easier to me to have some one else do it for me
