I went into repco to get some rear brakes and apparently there's three types.
PBR, akebono and sumotine or something like that. How do i tell which ones I have?

Its a 98 v6 auto advance.

PBR, Akebono and Sumitomo (spelling?) are the brands of calipers.

One way around getting the wrong ones is to pull one disc pad out, and - if you have spare transport - take it with you to the parts counter.
OR
Trace around the pad you pulled out using pen and paper, reassemble the caliper, and take your trace to the parts counter. They have books that show the full size outline of the brake pad to match.

Yep, PBR. Pulled the rear pads out of the rear brakes on my TJ, both calipers and pads were PBR.
Don't know what's on a 1998 model though.
Put RDA pads on the rear and have new ones for the front (RDB1203SM). I know from past experience these take a while to bed in so I've done the rears and when they have bedded in I will do the fronts. Don't want to do all of them at once as they are scary until bedded in and can catch you out with a lack of braking performance.

The brake pad shapes (with good drawings) are on the Bendix site and I think RDA.
