Hey guys,

Just wanted to ask how I would wire amps to the stock headunit, because I am guessing it hasn't got RCAs?

Thanks,
Ben

Why not spend the $100 and get a cheap HU from autobarn when on special??

You will get the best sound out of replacing it with a deck with RCA's, however if you want to keep it standard you only need to get speaker -> RCA converters, autobarn sells them for like $20, used them in my wife's aurion, worked a treat.

Just need to mention. Quite a few amps have the hi-lo converters built in.

rush - Just my opinion, I like the stock headunit, if something happened to it then I would get a new one, but would like to keep it for now.

M4DDOG - Thanks I will go check them out. I will be running 3 amps so will I need to get 3 speaker to RCA converters?

SH00T - You are correct with the mono amps I have purchased but not sure about the 4 channel amp:

Alpine PDX-M12 - The Car Amplifier
The new range of Class D car amplifiers from Alpine Car Audio take up a much smaller foot print than previous amplifier making them so much easier to install in tighter cabin and boot wells.

With speaker level inputs as standard these amplifiers allow you to continue to use your factory radio if need be without the need for expensive modifications or additional wiring looms.

Why go to the trouble of a fancy-pants amplifier when you're only running it off a crappy headunit?

Haven't found a headunit that I really like yet.

Thats some amp, lots of great SQ stuff, high SNR's, powerful efficient...

Red's right on the money, total waste of amp with Hi/Lo converter...

I rate the H/Unit I have DEH-80PRS (http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/products/25/121/61/DEH-80PRS/page.html) Reads a 32 GB SD card in the deck faster than a cd, with 2 x 1 amp USB, hello Hard drive (320 GB all .wav files in 8 seconds).

Well ok, if it means better sound quality, then I will consider changing the headunit as well. I thought because I changed everything else except the headunit, it would still sound good.

Thanks SH00T that's an impressive headunit.
