Firstly, Gday from a new Magna owner :D
OK, so in the past I have been known to modify cars and bikes (Old Golf GTi's and various road bikes), but after having 3 kids and a missus that needs a (Ahem) .. People carrier as our main form of transport :( .... Money and the ability to mod to my hearts content has gone out the window for now.....
BUT - I have just picked up a TH Magna in White, and have very limited spare dollars to do a couple of jobs to it, which brings me to my question for today:
Will 235/60R17 tyres on 7.5 x 17" Ford Territory rims fit straight onto the Magna, or would I have to get some 55 or 50 profile rubber fitted?
The car came with 205/65/15 tyres on 15" Mitsubishi alloys, but they look like roller skate wheels in the large Magna arches, and after looking at some members pictures of Territory rims fitted I thought they looked pretty good and would like to have a go myself, paint them semi gloss black.
Thanks guys

Rims will fit fiine but you'd need 235/45's, 225/50's or possibly 225/55's on them. You could squeeze 235/50 on there but they're a pretty expensive size & have limited options available.

The tyres you want to put on are 65mm bigger than standard lol Legally you can only go 15mm bigger. And unless you had a 4WD, you'd be crazy to go more than 15mm bigger anyway.
As mentioned 235/45/17 are cheap as chips and will fit.

"The outside diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter
wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle and not more than 15mm below the smallest diameter wheel
and tyre combination specified for the vehicle."

Read a few reviews on a UK website, they don't seem too bad, $320 for 4 tyres fitted, whaddya reckon?

Tyres are one of the most important systems next to your brakes, getting cheap tyres is a false economy. Think about it, you may save $200 on a set of tyres or even $300 however if they are sub standard and the one time you need grip it is not there or they wear out quickly then you have done your $$
Sure, we all want to save $$ but the tyre department is not the place to do this

Tom had some Accelera tyres on his Magna and they were crap.
The bare minimum I would look at would be a set of Achilles ATR Sports.

Some of the cheap tyres also have less tread depth so it is false economy. Also, I once found that the cheap tyre I purchased must have been made for a cold climate because I went away on a trip in hot weather and I could see the tread disappearing each day.
If you want to save money, buy mid-range or a mid-range that's on special. The last tyres I purchased for my Magna were Pirelli and I think I paid $105 each on special.
